RSS Feeds
RSS is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a "feed," "web feed," or "channel") includes full or summarized text plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content quickly and automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place. - from Wikipedia RSS page.

If you subscribe to an RSS feed, when an update is made to the content of that RSS feed, you will be notified that there is an update. Then if you click on the notification you are sent directly to the update. That way you don't have to keep checking a Web site for an update. RSS feeds can be read by using software known as a "feed reader". The most common are Internet browsers - Internet Explorer and Firefox. The easiest way to get notified is by using the RSS feed options in email software that supports RSS like the latest versions of Microsoft Outlook. When an update to the RSS feeds that you subscribe to are updated then you will receive an email for that feed within the RSS Feed foloder in Outlook. There are also a lot of other options for receiving RSS feeds. The Firefox browser uses what they call "Live Bookmarks" to maintain your RSS subscriptions. Firefox will notify you when updates are made to the feeds that you subscribe to. For more on Firefox click here.
